UH Manoa GEAR UP services two Kalihi area schools, Kalakaua Middle and Farington High Schools introducing incredible language courses in Samoan and Ilokano. These courses are taught by UH Manoa GEAR UP instructors within the Farrington High School where students are taught these languages immersed in the cutural history, dance and traditional practices. Students perform their cultural dances and learn how to relate to one another and the various other cultures existing in Farrington High School's diverse population. UH Manoa GEAR UP provides several other programs to prepare students for College.

UH Manoa GEAR UP also introduces online Math courses to prepare students for College. Eighth grade students participate in an Algebra Institute during the summer thus raising their Math level from Algebra II to Calculus upon graduation. UH Manoa GEAR UP does not stop there they then follow these students through high school providing them with online Math courses to supplement their classroom experience.

UH Manoa GEAR UP is going virtual by launching this comprehensive website to promote communication and mentoring between all stakeholders. This site will give students a place to connect with undergraduates, tutors and fellow students. It will give parents a place to communicate with UH Manoa GEAR UP staff and instructors to discuss their child's progress. UH Manoa GEAR UP staff will communicate with one another online since they are spread out through several different campuses and locations.
