Get Hooked Up! UHM GEAR UP Gear!

The Community plays a major role in the success of UH Manoa GEAR UP as is a true not-for-profit organization. UH Manoa GEAR UPfully integrates the community around the schools they serve. The youths that are served by UHM GEAR UP will become strong leaders within their communities, but UHM GEAR UP needs your help in the formation of our future leaders.

Currently, UHM GEAR UP's community partners help to provide after-school activities, workshops, scholarship resoures, etc. in the common effort to enhance educational opportunities and support to UHM GEAR UP students.

There is so much more that UHM GEAR UP could do and offer to Hawaii's students, but we need your help. If you are a community member or organization and would like to help, please use the 411 link on our homepage to contact someone in UHM GEAR UP. We look forward to working with you.

Banking on the captivating technologies utilized to develop the online Algebra I course, 22 eighth graders were selected to participate in a six-week Algebra Summer Institute. S.H.A.L.L - Studies of Heritage and Academic Languages and Literacies

Ilokano and Samoan language courses offer students the opportunity to develop complex and high-level language skills in their heritage languages. English and study skills courses allow for life long learning of English speaking, reading, writing, and computer technology skills through training students in analyzing the purposes and uses of language. These courses aim to enhance students’ self-esteem by changing the common view that heritage languages and cultures are problems to an orientation in which home languages and cultures are valued as resources of great academic and social value.
