As a parent, you can't always dictate what your child does. At some point, you child will have to begin making his or her own decisions. You may not be able to oversee every action or decision your child makes, but you can teach them the skills and guidance they will need to stay on the right path. Here are some activities you can do as a family to help your child along on the path of life:Play indoor or outdoor games with your kids. Go to the park and challenge your child to a game. Participating in some friendly competition is beneficial because it helps a child to learn how to focus on his or her goals.
Make a life map together. Help your child determine his or her priorities and discuss how your child can focus on those priorities. Ask your child about short and long-term goals. Help your child break goals into smaller tasks so he or she can practice accomplishing each in a timely manner. Find a proper place for your child to study. Make sure to introduce a good study environment for your child, like the library. Make sure that your child has a place at home where he or she can easily concentrate without any distractions. A good study environment is especially important when you child is working on major projects or assignments. Communicate. Talk to your child, discuss the importance of a good education. Homework always needs to be completed in a timely manner. Make sure to let your child know that this is something you value. Focusing on your child's education is one of the most important roles of a parent. What your child learns from you is crucial to your child's development. As a parent, you should encourage your children to stay focused on their goals. Motivate them to enjoy learning by using their imaginations and exploring what sparks their curiosity. In this stage of your children's lives, it is essential for them to develop self-mastery skills and explore different aspects of their identities. |

Ilokano and Samoan language courses offer students the opportunity to develop complex and high-level language skills in their heritage languages. English and study skills courses allow for life long learning of English speaking, reading, writing, and computer technology skills through training students in analyzing the purposes and uses of language. These courses aim to enhance students’ self-esteem by changing the common view that heritage languages and cultures are problems to an orientation in which home languages and cultures are valued as resources of great academic and social value.
